Often when I go out I collect little trinkets. Pretty things that apparently have little purpose, such as single beads, buttons or foil cutouts - and it's surprising how many of these can be made into earrings.
Above are: two foil cutouts of different sizes, a button, a bead and a charm from a pop-up store. Obviously if you want a pair then you need two of the same. Duh. I'm fond of buying three - two for earrings and an extra for some other purpose. Cutouts as large as the circular design are possibly too cumbersome for earrings, but they can be made into other jewelry or attached to clothing and belts.
You will need:
- Pliers
- Connecting rings (By connecting rings I just mean any sort of metal ring that can connect the trinket to the earring. It may not be necessary if the earring hook has a ring attached, but I like to add them.)
- Trinket
- Earring Hooks (Earring hooks can be brought from most craft stores. If you think you might make several pairs its worth buying the bigger packet. Otherwise individual hooks can be brought as cheap earrings from dollar stores and taken apart.)
Use the pliers to open up the connecting rings so there is a gap between the two metal ends. Slip the trinket and the earring hook through and use the pliers to reconnect the ring, so the ends retouch. The only thing to watch is if the trinket has a particular face. You'll want to make sure it's attached to the hook the right way otherwise when you put it on the back will be facing the viewer.
